OUR VISION

WHO ARE WE?

ANOTHER LIFE

In a quote from Louis Pasteur about children, it seems to parallel the way we approach every piece that we provide at Mountain Home Woods. He said "When I approach a child, he inspires in me two sentiments; tenderness for what he is, and respect for what he may become."

We are proud to offer you a piece of our history, of our culture, and of our handcraft so that you can add it to your own space in the world and transform it into its next form and function as another life. We respect the environment, and are committed to sustainably avoiding the mistakes of the region's past through repurposing, reuse, and efficient use resources. The forest is part of our home, and as a part of our home it is a part of who we are also.

We have a growing list of local artisans - all sharing the same goals and vision. Currently, our paintings and sculptures are the work of Beckley native Stephen Gillian. He enjoys experiencing the great outdoors through his paintings, enjoying creative expression through all kinds of woodwork and metalwork, and wildlife through his carvings. He is currently spending his life trying to create things of worthwhile beauty while making his family proud and trying to make the world a better place.

Stephen can be reached at sg@mountainhomewoods.com.

As the old-timers did long ago, we use a variety of woods in our own woodwork, utilizing their unique strengths and characteristics where they are best suited.
